Advertisement Cyber smart

Today we Cybersmart with Koka Maria.We learnt about advertisement and what language they use and how they get customers or people to buy it.We also had to pick some images we would share at school or with family and friends.We also made a word art that represented us.We made two one that was for school and one that we would share with friends and family.

Mayor of Gisborne came on an unexpected visit

Today the Mayor of Gisborne came on a very unexpected visit.We were planning to have an open day at the Hamanatua stream.We had to postpone because of bad weather.The mayor(Meng Foon) was really kind to stop by and  visit us.We told   him why we decided to do all these projects.



Who is he?
Meng Foon is the Mayor of Gisborne as you already know.He can speak fluent cantonese,maori,english. He signs all commissions, licenses, and permits granted by legislative authority, as well as other instruments that require his signature under the law.He takes a very important roll as being a mayor for Gisborne.Here is a picture of my class and me with the mayor.

  

Hamantua project

At our school we are focusing on action speaks louder than words we all did a project to do with actions speak louder than words. Me and my team chose to plant some harakeke near the stream .When people are cycling on the footpath and fall over they won't go tumbling in the stream.

Why plant harakeke(Flax) well that's because harakeke are strong and flexible. Which means if someone was riding their bike and fell over the harakeke would bounce back up and no harm would be done.Here are some pictures.

Introducing Me

This week we found out about Tuhi Mai Tuhi Atua.We have been working on our introduction slide,to introduce ourself to Blaketown school in the south island.We made a slide that tells about us.

Horsesome Holiday!

Today we have been doing a slow write based on our holidays. These are the instructions that we used to create our slow write.My slow write is about horse riding in the holidays.

Se1:  Start with the word “woohoo!”

S 2 2:  This sentence must use emotive words.

Se 3:  This sentence must focus on the sense of smell/taste/touch or hearing

Se 4:  Must be a 5 words long.

Se 5:  Must start with an adverb.

Se 6:  This sentence must contain a question mark

Se 7:  start with the word “Although”

S8:  8:This sentence must have 3 adjectives in a list

Se 9: This sentence must start with a “Why is it…” phrase

Se 10 :  This sentence must end with a sound word (onomatopoeia) and an

                      exclamation mark.

 "Woohoo!," it's finally the holidays.I am very excited to have two whole weeks of no school.Ahh the fresh smell of a farm,the sound of a rooster crowing,the feel of the horse's winter coat,yum the taste of a mince and cheese pie.Patiently,I watch Teifi and Jordyn leap over the jumps.When is it going to be my turn?

Although,I had to wait a long time,it was finally my turn to jump.

Oden is the most majestical,amazing,kind,beautiful pony you could ever have.

Why is it that the holidays go so,so fast?

A few days ago we made a recipe that celebrates what we have achieved this term or what you want to improve on for next term.I chose to do an improved recipe for next term.The recipe on your behavior.

Today we did 3 stars and a wish.The stars are things I have achieved this term.The thinking bubble is want I want to focus and work on next term.

All about me

Today Koka Maria come into room 1 and taught us to create an avatar on face.co.Then we downloaded it on to our drive and made a introduction on google drawings or docs then we embedded onto our blogs to introduce our self.

Smart passwords

Today in room 1 Koka Maria came in and taught us about how to make a smart and strong password.
We copied the slide she shared it with us and  we answer questions .We learnt ways to make a smart and strong password.We all watched a video on how to make strong password.Take a look at my google slide.

With good friends we had hope.

I chose this bullying quote because,you can forgive people for what they did but it will always leave a scar on there heart.So you always must think before you speak.Here is a picture of our wall that we have made to help with bullying.Take a look. 

Layering images.

 Today Maria come in and taught us how to layer a image .Use colour picker and also,insert images

that are transparent and reuse able.In room 1 we all made images based on what we like.I chose to do horses galloping along the beach and a surfer carrying his board,on Wainui beach .I really like horse riding and surfing because some of my hobbies.

Duathlon!

LI: I am sharing some of my ideas, feelings and thoughts on my blog about the

     Duathlon  today!

Success Criteria: It makes sense when I read it I have used capital letters and full stops correctly I have had my blogging buddy check my blog before I publish it            My feelings about the duathlon  All of the year 5 girls are lined up at the starting line.Oh my gosh I am feeling so nervous.BANG!!!Everybody starts running around field.2 minutes later... I am already puffing and huffing.Second lap here I come,my legs are so sore.As I start heading towards the hill my legs slow down my mouth is so dry.In my head I was going keep moving ,run harder.I quickly put on my helmet click its on.I use my muscles to pull my bike up.I slowly jog down the path.Bump I'm on the grass.I swing my leg over my bike.Pedaling has fast as I go.As I take over people I sweat like it's raining.After 2 laps of biking I finally get of .I can  my grandma cheering me on.I jump back on,Biking back to the path.I carefully lay my bike down on the grass.Then I pull my helmet off.Run run here I come.Down the hill I go ,I start slowing down into a jog .Finally I complete the first lap but there's one more lap to go.I am so tired I really want to walk but I can't because I just have to keep on running.I am looking straight at yellow sticks.Finally I finished.I am dying of thirst right now.I feel exhausted. 5 words I was feeling like after our duathlon .Sweaty .thirsty .Exhausted .puffed .boiling

In Room 1 this week, we have been learning about being safe online.  This is my cyber safety poster. Today Ms Ducky came into our class and taught us how to embed objects into our blog.
